Common Folk’s mission is to inspire creativity, strengthen local and emerging artistry, and make a healthy impact on our community.
Northampton, MA-based singer/songwriter, Mikey Sweet connects with listeners' hearts through the simple universal power of song. With a sound described as song-centric folk-Americana, Sweet writes in the tradition of American storytelling. Says Deb Hebert of Blue Bird Reviews, "Most compelling is Sweet's skill for translating matters of the heart in such a way the lesson learned is universal, a trait that parallels some of our generation’s greatest storytellers in Springsteen, Hiatt and Browne." Sweet will be joined by Ryan Hommel on pedal steel guitar, and Paul Kohanskie on stand up bass.
Squash Blossom is a Pioneer Valley-based acoustic trio, playing their own original style of American music. With a catalogue of upbeat, original songs, along with timeless covers of classic tunes by The Dillards, The Beatles, The Wood Brothers, Roy Parker Jr. and everything in between, Squash Blossom’s multitude of musical influences are distilled like a fine bourbon into a bluegrass infused string band. The band consists of Dan Bisson (upright bass), Kevin Chafee (guitar, vocals), and Nick Paar (mandolin, vocals).
